Hello!

My name is Abby and I started Charlotte Street Studio in 2021 with a love of vintage home decor and a desire to curate, decorate, and to help people make their surroundings more beautiful and enjoyable on a daily basis. Before that, I started a handmade business, Kawaii Crafty, in 2014 making cute polymer clay jewelry. That Christmas, I taught myself how to knit to make Christmas presents for family and friends. Over the next couple of years, it morphed into designing colorful knit and crochet items, including amigurumi toys, jewelry, cacti, winter accessories, home goods and more! I also enjoyed attending craft shows and sold my work at a couple of boutiques.

I have a BFA in product design from RIT in Rochester, NY and I have worked for many small businesses, helping with anything from merchandising, social media, website and inventory management to production work, product photography, and more.

For years, my dream has been to run my own boutique! I would love for it to be in Historic Wake Forest, or some other small town. In 2015, I worked for a handmade boutique that had just opened in Rochester, NY. It was a dream job, and I would love to be able to recreate that one day! In 2024, I decided it was time to add creative and small business services to my business. Early in 2025, I was let go from a job I had been at for 2 years, I was burnt out and my boss could tell. I spent more than half of that year looking for a new job, but couldn't find anything that was worth my time for such little pay. That was when I realized that I needed to finally fully go into business for myself.
